How appealing was the subject line of this email?
I’m guessing it was at least mildly appealing since you are in Summer of Marketing. 🙂
Today I want to show you a simple way to grow your business.
At AppSumo, we’ve used a ton of Giveaways to significantly grow our business.
Our very first giveaway was Dropbox Pro for life.
Here are some of the results we’ve gotten:
On Okdork I’ve run Giveaways for the past 2 months and it’s helped me gain 6,000+ new email subscribers.
First we ran a giveaway for 5 of Seth Godin’s books and then we did a giveaway for all three of Tim Ferriss’ books.
But wait there’s more...
Actually, not really. It’s pretty straight forward.
There are many marketing methods to grow your email list: freebies, PR, content marketing, advertising, etc. Giveaways are one of the most cost efficient methods you’ll ever use.
This week I want you to use Giveaways to grow your email subscribers and list of potential customers.
The best way to do a giveaway is to run it for 2 weeks and offer something specific to the customers you want to attract.
Want developers? Giveaway Sublime Text
Want SaaS businesses? Giveaway 1 year of desk.com
Want sales people? Giveaway The Ultimate Sales Machine book
Here are two tools you can use to launch your giveaways:
1) Rafflecopter.com: 100% free tool you can use to run Giveaways.
2) KingSumo Giveaways: Full intergration with WordPress that let’s you launch a giveaway in 60 seconds. Full disclosure: I'm totally biased since AppSumo developed Kingsumo Giveaways.
For the next 48 hours you can grab it for only $100 (50% off) using code 'okdork'. This is the best discount we’ve ever done. Please do NOT share this (seriously). (VIP members check your email 🙂
Activity Week 9: Launch Your First Giveaway
a) Pick something to giveaway (keep your ideal customer in mind)
b) Run the giveaway for the next 2 weeks. Make sure you post, email and share your giveaway to get it going. Try increasing the referral # for the first 48 hours.
c) Leave a comment with what you are going to giveaway.
Kick Ass,
Noah

I used Kingsumo Giveaways to run our giveaway and it worked great.
I'll be running my second giveaway next week using KingSumo. Great plugin!
I am going to do a KingSumo giveaway for a 12-month free account with Contactually.com, which is a CRM program I promote on my site. I'm also hoping to include a 12-month free aweber account and a year of hosting through bluehost, as those are the two other tools I recommend everyone has on my site.
The giveaway was the subscription for life for the new app we're launching in October.
Sorry I couldn't comment any earlier!
I'm giving away a free copy of the book "World's Cheapest Destinations" to an audience interested in traveling more for less money. The focus of my marketing is toward teachers because they often have the time to travel, but make modest salaries. Here's my giveaway page: http://www.travelbeyondexcuse.com/giveaways/worlds-cheapest-destinations-book-giveaway
Quick question Noah...
When giving away a certain number of months or years to a SaaS product, how do you transfer the software to the winner's account? I mean your credit card information is in there along with your personal info and address. Some apps don't allow you to clear out this info, especially the credit card details.
I checked out Rafflecopter and Viralsweep for the giveaway but figured the monthly cost was not worth it. Got the Kingsumo Giveaway plugin at the discount price. I'm using it to give away 1 year free of Forewards (a referral marketing app for Shopify stores).

Currently on a freeze for this month so decided to give away a book I already had and would appeal to my demographic. I purchased KingSumo giveaways a month or two back to use in my primary biz that is seasonal. Over the years I've spent a lot on giveaway services so the plugin was perfect. I was planning on using it next season but took your challenge for my personal blog.

For my first contest, I'll give away a copy of The Four Hour Body signed by Tim Ferriss. If that goes well, I'll give away a free ticket to the Playboy Mansion for my second contest.
Noah I know you love doing these one on one kind of things.
Who did you loose the bet to?
My marketing strategy is to get SEO's like you wondering why the hell they don't know how to sail. Huh. Yea. Think about it.
The give away thing. I'll give away some old sailing books.
Fair winds.
I'm going to give away the top PPC books as rated by Amazon. Why? Because we want to attract people interested in PPC as subscribers to the iSpionage blog and $100 worth of books for 1k+ subscribers is too good of a deal to pass up. Tool we'll use? KingSumo Giveaway of course.

Hey Jeremy. I just signed up for your contest. I noticed you and Noah have the same landing page design. What design template is that and where do you get it?
Hey Ethan, its Noah's KingSumo Giveaway plugin. 😉

Just setting up our new website. Not sure how but we need to sell Golf packages to the 2015 Masters at Augusta National very quickly (by the end of September!). One giveaway I think we might do is to offer one free round of Golf at the best course in Australia - Royal Melbourne.
I actually got week 9 started last week. Thanks to a gaffe by a politician, it was the perfect opportunity to launch a giveaway. I'm giving away gas/petrol competition and I have plans on how to ramp it up to the Dropbox giveaway level.
