I was talking to a friend this weekend and I also felt a little funky this morning and the theme is, “What do you do when you’re not sure what to do next?”
Alright, so that’s kind of the moment where you take your goal, or you wake up a little flat, or you’re going to work and you look around and you’re like “I could go postal on all these people”. (Don’t worry guys, I’m not going to do that in the office.) And so I’m just starting to think about it like from myself. I think there are three things that I will recommend you do when you’re not sure what to do next. And this is a much longer thing. I’m just trying to give you a little myself and a little jumpstart.
1) DON’T DO SHIT. It’s kind of my tendency, to start adding in destructions and voices and looking at the camera, it’s like “Oh, I filled up all the day, I filled up all the week, and I’ve got a lot of shit to do” and a lot of it maybe are actually a lot of the things that I don’t want to do. So just sit and just embrace the feeling that “Ok, from this moment in time I don’t want to do anything and then I’m not sure what to do next” so that’s some of the options that I’ll explain right now.
2) GO DO STUFF, but I thought you just said don’t do anything. I’m very confused Noah. And so there’s different things you tried out and you see what actually works for you. And so what I’m saying in terms of doing stuff, I found that just that momentum and gain up ball rolling have sort of inspired me in getting my brain engaged. Words like, it could be really something small like cleaning your closet or helping out just one customer. Don’t worry about how do I make all these money, just go help one person or just go do something nice, right? Or go for a walk, right? Do something really, really little of that will just start getting the brain going and then you can start exploring what things you don’t want to do and you do want to do.
And then lastly, this is kind of a cheesy one and I know this is stupid but it does feel good and it does help.
3) JUST BREATHE. And so I have noticed that, do it with you, do it with me okay, you want me? Yes. Just go like it (breathe) do it too, do it too. It feels right, it feels better.
So what do you do when you’re not sure to do next? Don’t do anything and don’t rush. Don’t add avoidance and destructions. Consider trying something. Maybe something will spark that you don’t like or maybe you’ll figure out something you do like. And then just try breathing and that will help you going on and figure out what to do next.
