Solving the housing crisis!
There's a housing shortage in California and the country at large, and that's leading to a real housing crisis. I want to help Californian homeowners build over 180,000 homes a year to improve the situation.
The way I do it is teaching homeowners and renters about a special type of housing called an "Accessory Dwelling Unit" or ADU. ADUs are cool because they let almost any homeowner build one or two houses/apartments on their property that they can rent out, or move a family member into.
How To ADU does three things for homeowners:
We create free videos, articles and tools to help people address the most common obstacles that get in the way of building an ADU.
If people need more help with project management, we offer hourly consultants who can help people regain momentum and get their project done on budget and on time.
And we do deep dive projects with partners in other fields (eg real estate, finance/lending, and prefab/modular construction) to create new innovative solutions that homeowners can take advantage of to develop their property. For example, a lot of homeowners can't get financing for ADUs because national lenders don't want to consider the rental income from the property when evaluating the prospective loan - can we find a lender who is willing to think about this differently?
