“Aha” Business Moments

Phi Kelnhofer runs sweetphi.com — a 6-figure food blog business from her home.

But it didn’t happen overnight.

Phi was blogging for years before making a single dollar online. And she was really bad about setting goals.

But she managed to make the transition into a mompreneur, and turning her side hustle blog into a profitable 6-figures business.

So what happened?!

Today, Phi is going to share her 3 “aha” business moments:

  1. Defining your dream day. WRITE IT OUT. What do you do exactly? What do you eat, drink, think about? Be specific (and it’s okay to start small).
  2. Goal Setting. Phi has a vision board, and it’s the first thing she looks at each day. This includes selecting word / phrase of the year (her recent ones: “Just do it” or “Forward”). She takes her theme of the year and turns it into goals:

Step 1. Make a list of what you need to do on a recurring basis.
Step 2. Check in. Are you doing those things?
Step 3. What would you LIKE to be doing? And those are the goals!

  3. Getting your team on the same page. Phi’s team checks in weekly and meets in-person once a month. Take one full day of planning and put everything on the calendar for the year. Clear expectations = getting more done.

Listen to the podcast above for the full breakdown of the “aha” moments.

Found this episode SO great! The synergy, the conversation, your characters both + the tips mentioned. (I love it when people are non-conforming, and just be themselves, it’s lacking in many interviews, so many want to be conformists, it makes them weak, which is a shame.) After it ended I said out loud “This was really good!” So, THANKS!

Hmm, my comment didn’t format correctly…

Great podcast! Despite hearing it before, not only does hearing it again help me refocus, but gives me the kick in the ass to do what I’m avoiding! ?

Curious to see how Phi doubles down on her differentiation. I’d recommend Seth Godin’s Book This is Marketing (or his recent podcasts with Tim Ferriss for a preview). With the commoditisation of everything (including cooking blogs), it seems the most secure strategy, even if it’s seems risky on being know for one thing. For doing one thing well.

And if you need more help beyond the TIM book, I do positioning +branding strategy & business model strategy consulting for small brands trying to differentiate themselves.
