The Next Elon Musk — Meet John Arrow

What do you think is going to happen in the future?

John Arrow — aka the next Elon Musk — thinks about the future EVERY day.

As the cofounder of Mutual Mobile, John loves to experiment with crazy future technologies and “moonshots” to change the world.

If you want to prepare yourself for future jobs, technologies, and businesses… there’s no one better than John to teach you.

John’s career success has been backed by his predictions. Before he turned 30:

  • Sold part of this 9-figure company
  • Bought a private jet (he flew me out to Marfa, Texas to record this podcast episode)
  • Created a 100+ person development agency — and worked with Disney, Under Armour, and more

Want to position yourself to thrive in the future?

Check out this post and podcast episode below. You’ll learn:

  1. Why John thinks the world’s 2 most common jobs won’t exist in 8 years
  2. 3 industries John thinks he can make a billion dollars from in the next 10 years
  3. How to predict the future — and use it to your advantage
  4. And tons more…

How to build a billion dollar empire: Future predictions you need to know

Entrepreneurs are always looking for the next BIG thing.

But most entrepreneurs only look a couple months or a couple years ahead.

John looks decades ahead. He thinks about which technology will be commonplace in 10, 20, 30 years — and how to leverage future technologies to make money.

Here are 3 industries John plans to make $1,000,000,000 from in the next 10 years. 💰💰💰

How can you integrate these ideas in your own business?

1. Haptics

Haptics is a fancy word for those vibrations you feel from your FitBit or Apple device. “I don’t know why we don’t just call them vibrations,” John joked.

Here’s the amazing part: Our brain can interpret haptics the same way that we interpret visual stimuli.

John thinks haptics is one of the big upcoming technologies. He’s experimenting with devices to read your text messages using haptic control.

In other words, you could get a series of vibrations and completely understand what it says.

You wouldn’t need to take your phone out of your pocket.

Think about the implications:

  • No more texting while driving
  • No more rudely taking out your phone during meals
  • No more interrupting a friend to “check this text real quick”

This technology could even help blind people see. You could soon be able to create pictures, images, and movies using haptics.

Here are 3 business ideas for haptics:

  1. Daily reminders. For example, a vibration on your watch to take medicine, go to a meeting, or visualize your business success
  2. Touch virtual objects mid-air. Seriously, the company Ultrahaptics is exploring this idea
  3. Help the sensory impaired. Maybe it’s someone who has completely lost sight at a young age, or an elderly person slowly losing their sight. Haptics can help both

2. Virtual assistants

I LOVE my Apple AirPods.

When John looks at AirPods, he doesn’t just see a cool set of in-ear headphones. He sees a life-changing platform.

AirPods, and AirPod-like tech, could become a superpower for all humans.

Imagine having an assistant with you all the time. Think of it like Siri… but 1,000x more useful.

For example, a few times where virtual assistants could help:

  • Instantly translating speech so you can have a conversation with anyone
  • Scheduling meetings without the back-and-forth
  • Tell you who’s nearby at networking events (and help you meet mentors and VIPs)

3. Eternal life

A couple of days before meeting with John, I’d just finished an epic sci-fi novel.

The idea of living forever felt kinda scary to me. But John truly believes will living forever will come to fruition:

“I know unequivocally that we’re going to live forever and that we can take a human consciousness and put it into a computer.”

The process has started, too. Elon Musk’s company Neuralink is working on linking our brains with computers by turning cloud-based AI into an extension of the human brain.

Think about how this changes EVERYTHING (especially business).

When people can fully connect their brains to computers, almost every industry will be reinvented for our matrix-like future.

Today’s science fiction could be tomorrow’s reality.

When there are people working on something as big (and seemingly crazy) as eternal life, there’s no shitty excuse that should be stopping you from building a business.

If people live forever, the business world completely changes:

  • Your customers have a much higher LTV (lifetime value)
  • You could target entirely new age groups and lifestyles
  • An entirely new world of futuristic technology is needed

How can YOU predict future technologies?

Not everyone reading this is going to make a billion dollars in the haptics, virtual assistant, or eternal life industries.

So how can you make future predictions for yourself?

When John shared his thoughts on the future, I was also curious how he frames what’s coming next.

Simple is better, and here’s how John’s simple process works:

“I think really far into the future with what I want. Then, I think about the stepping stones to reach it.”

Don’t overcomplicate things. Think about your industry or areas you’re passionate about. What’s your ideal solution? Even if it’s not yet possible, sit down and brainstorm ideas.

To inspire you, here are my biggest marketing ideas for 2017.

Find an idea in your head, work back to what’s possible now, and GET STARTED.

Let’s say you run a restaurant. What’s the ideal way to get your product to customers?

Don’t limit yourself here. Think as big as possible.

Here’s what you might say:

  • 3D print food at home
  • Press a button and the meal instantly appears
  • Plug into a computer and attend restaurant virtually (imagine no capacity or location issues… you could 100x your revenue)

These aren’t quite possible yet. But, if you think about these ideas as the eventual goals, here’s how you can start today:

  • Offer home delivery
  • Partner with UberEATS or Deliveroo
  • Create a mobile app with community features

Earth-shattering bold moves start with the first step.

I know some of this stuff may seem a little Star Trek-y and futuristic. But over the next decade, tech will change the face of the workforce in some massive ways.

John even predicts that two of the most common jobs in the U.S. will all but disappear in the next eight years:

  • Driver (e.g. taxi driver, FedEx, post office)
  • Secretary / receptionist

Drivers of all types will be challenged by self driving cars. Secretaries will struggle against new assistant AI and technologies.

Given the choice, would you rather be watching on the sidelines… or leading the forefront and making money?

New tech will affect us all. Staying on top will be the difference between winning and losing.

Don’t be left behind. 😉

I continue to be impressed with the guests/ people you bring into your life. I see a consistent theme. Fairly young people that give thought to this world and how they see themselves in it as well as the steps they take to live life to its fullest (John Arrow, Sam Dogen, Aubrey Marcus, and Tynan). I think it’s great that you and your guest are thinking about and realizing things about life that took me decades to discover. Excellent!

Noah, you’re really stepping up your game with these interviews. My biggest takeaway from this is having overarching moon shot goal which helps aligns smaller decisions. Let’s play chess if you swing by Lisbon.

Noah, love you dog! Got me thinking about a business idea that would utilize air pods to make you a better lover. Let’s call it “sex scripts”. You pay for a script – let’s say you choose “go down on female partner” and the script gives you some recommendations for setting up the moment. You keep air pod in one ear and press play when time comes and it tells you what to do and say to your partner – “gently stroke her foot while kissing her ankles and slowly moving up to her thigh” “tell her she smells amazing” etc etc. I know your starting to get a boner so I won’t keep going but you get the point. She could even have a pod in with complementary script and sounds to help her relax and enjoy the pleasure.

Been loving your podcast, the Brian dean ep inspired me to ramp up my info product sales and this week has been incredible!

That’s all brah! If you build it, they will cum! Right??

Elon Musk owns a company that was depended on gov money and now that Trump no longer wants to invest in his company, he left the board saying that he is too concerned with environmental problems that Trump won’t touch.

Not to mention that construction of the battery inside the Tesla car and extracting those metals is quite polluting too.

But hey, Elon Musk rocks?!?

In the eyes of the naive, maybe.

Hmmmm —-> Construction of battery, = + – this much [_______] pollution…. Don’t you think the long term benefits WAY OUTWEIGHS the short term detriments.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT.

Love it. No question about virtual assistants and living forever. But have we asked the question… will we even remain human?

With an unlimited ability to redesign ourselves in the physical and virtual worlds, I don’t think it’s possible yet to truly understand how things will morph, due to an infinite number of variables. However we can be certain that the change is going to be massive.

Awesome podcast. John Arrow is one of the most interesting people I’ve never heard of (until now).

Right on point with the extinction of typical jobs that tech can replace. However, I don’t agree on the faith/optimism around VR. In fact, I think it will introduce more detriment to society than value… but that’s a topic for another day! 🙂
