Case Study: How to Double Your Ecommerce Sales

Ammon is a co-founder of ONE80.

It was the world’s FIRST peripheral LED headlamp. Business was going great…

But then, their idea got ripped off by other companies on Amazon.

In today’s episode, I talk to Ammon about what he did when his business was ripped of by copycats.

We’re going to be talking about 3 BIG things:

  1. How to 2x your ecommerce business
  2. Dealing with getting ripped off on Amazon — and bouncing back
  3. How to prioritize what to do in your company

Enjoy.

P.S. This is our third episode in the Noah’s Ark of Business series. Check out the other two real case studies with new + established businesses:

Thank you for adding case studies … I learned a ton from you from the TAM formula etc…

I own a company called LiFi Lighting ( Un-hackable lighting units that provide internet )

Its a new technology that is in line to overtake Wi-Fi in the next few years ..

Any additional information would be truly appreciated ….

( also to help your guy from 180 headlights …. Have him buy a 1 year subscription to on of the construction leads services … I did this and it gives me 1.6 million leads in the construction industry world wide … Gave me 1st page of google etc.. and of course Google trends to learn were his target market is ….

These head lights would also be loved by outdoor painters. (Painting nocturnes, etc)
I would create a youtube video showing it off!

Hello Noah… Do you have a website, where I can get more info about your business and how you launched a Podcast Career ?

You’re on his website. ?

The podcast story is on okdork.com/podcast, across episodes. It would be neat to do an episode on how to launch a podcast. I’ll make note, thanks for the suggestion!

Great episode! For email, Noah is spot on. I would create an automated “welcome” email series that breaks down like this:
Day 1. Thank you email with a 10% discount code (or 15% or 20% good to split test)
Day 2. Why our customers love us! – then show social proof and customers with images of your product
Day 3. (48 hours Only) Buy 1 Get 1 Special – (or whatever your best converting offer is)
Day 4. Buy 1 Get 1 ending tonight – reminder email for last chance to use discount
Now, set up 1 email per week for the next 15, 20, 50 weeks. As Noah indicated, it doesn’t have to always be products and promotions, add in cool stories about your target audience of outdoor enthusiasts etc. Bring value and your customers will develop a connection to your and your brand. Once I implemented this into my store, we instantly saw a 10% revenue boost.

Second, I would switch to Shopify. I had a chance to review your site and think there are a lot of small tweaks that can be made to really increase the overall user experience. With Shopify you can also upgrade to Shopify Pages, which is an app that is a page builder by zipify apps. This is an added expense, but if you google Ezra Firestone who build this app, you will realize why this is well worth the extra expense. Plus, you will gain a ton of knowledge from Ezra’s videos and tutorials.

Good Luck!

I agree with Paul. I was just looking at one of our ecommerce clients results here at Email Broadcast. The automation messages we built for them (not all about a coupon) are firing on all cylinders with 24-40% open rates and 5 to 6% click through rates. This is considerably above their normal open rates emailing their entire (and old) email list. Automation allows you to strike while the iron’s hot. Additionally, make sure those emails have extremely strong branding – telling your authentic story so people not only want the product but want to support you and your mission. Good luck! Ken
