Special Elections, who cares?

Okay so today is the culmination of all the picketing and speech-giving out on college campus’ for the special elections. It’s time to vote! Woohoo! But seriously, no one gives a shit.

Tabling out on Sproul Hall for a random club a few days ago I heard some loud mumbling noises coming from the stage. I turned my head to see a sad presentation of some random students rallying people up against prop 73. It was a sad attempt. I’d say about 7 people were actually listening, 3 people were waiting for some kind of free hand out and the rest just didn’t really give a shit.

People complain that so little of the younger generation don’t vote, but they really don’t do anything about it. What needs to be realized is that we, as a generation, are very lazy. Sure we care, but not enough to get up and vote on something that we are not informed on.

All I saw that day was a group of angry students yelling about saving women and unborn fetuses. Not once did they go over what Prop 73 was about and/or the different angles and aspects of it. I was well aware of the meaning of prop 73, and yet their presentation got me so frustrated and riled up that I was just about ready to vote against there stance just to spite them.

College students are a lazy race. If you want them to vote then you have to take extra measures to make sure they get unbiased information on what each prop is about and then spoon feed them information on how to go about voting (ie. when, where, etc.)

Seriously, I’m glad it’s over. I’d like to return to nice quiet calming music as I table.

And no, I did not vote. why? because i’m a lazy college student.
