Product: eduFire.com allows people to teach and learn over the Internet using video chat (think education meets eBay meets Tokbox and you’ll get what we’ve built). We’re starting with foreign language teachers and students and will be expanding out from there. The platform is totally open to use to teach and learn and tutors set their own prices for their services. eduFire was recently featured on the CBS News in Los Angeles.

Problem: eduFire launched a couple of months ago and our biggest challenge is getting people to take the plunge and pay someone to tutor them in a brand new way (live, interactive video). Establishing credibility and presenting a call to action are our most important tasks. We’ve found that the vast majority of people who try eduFire love it so most of our energy is focused on how to get people to try that first session.

Questions for OKDorkers:

#1 – What can be done to make people more likely to sign up with a tutor given that most visitors to eduFire have never done online tutoring before?

#2 – What can be done to make the site appear more credible?

#3 – What can we offer someone to try their first session without breaking the bank?

If we use one of your suggestions you’ll receive a free one-hour tutoring session with one of our tutors (worth up to $60).

We’re creating short and useful language videos for travelers, and are looking for interesting ways to get the word out. Are you up for a brainstorm?

Product:
10Things.tv is a website that makes it easy to learn other languages using short video clips. You can watch hot girls and guys tell you “Ten Things to Say at a Market in Spain” or “Ten Things in Spanish when on the Vegas Strip” (who doesn’t like speaking Spanish in Vegas?! ).

Problem:
We’re looking to find a lot of people who are interested in learning languages. The site only has Spanish videos now but will ultimately feature a large number of languages. We want to find people who aren’t necessarily looking to become fluent but would love to have some phrases to say while traveling.

Questions for you:

1) How do we quickly and cost-effectively (the site is totally free) reach a large number of people who are learning foreign languages?

2) What else can we do to make 10Things.tv more fun and useful?

Looking forward to your comments and suggestions. Big shout-out to Noah for allowing me to do this.

Product:

The Resume App on Facebook lets you import your LinkedIn resume and recommendations to your Facebook resume. For the non-LinkedIn crowd, it also lets you upload your resume in Word format and converts it to html.

Problem:

The app only has 1000 users. Network effects make this exponentially more useful with more users. However, it’s starting to get attention from the press. 2 reporters contacted me for their stories about professionals starting to use Facebook over LinkedIn for their business networking

Questions for you:

1) How do we make this app more viral?

2) Is privacy a concern?

When viewing resumes by network, you can’t actually view the resume unless you add the person as a friend. Should we make all resumes transparent to anyone? Or should we let the user decide on the privacy level? (ie – Only let my friends see my resume; OR let my networks and friends see my resume; OR let anyone see my resume)

3) Should we have a point system?

You’d get points for posting your resume, writing recommendations, or inviting friends. Points let you view more resumes.

Any thoughts, feedback, ideas, suggestions, criticism? Thank you Noah for lending me your blog, and giving me initial feedback when the app launched a couple weeks ago. This post was written by Joe Suh of MyChurch.org.

Bring some matches, gather up some kindling and make sure you’ve got a fire extinguisher close by because the Fuego (yes, “THE”) is at large.

Noah was nice enough to let me, Scott Hurff, post something here about what I’ve been doing — plus, I love you all and would love to get that grouporation action going.

Last time I was here, I was running Groupvine full-time. I’ve since sold it and started Fuego.

So what is it?

Fuego offers bite-sized, actionable, high-quality content for classy guys intended to make a lasting impression and offer a quick return. It’s meant to be like a “trusted friend,” identifying trends, stuff you should know and all that while having a good time.

I’m a guy and I like cool things. I like classy things, too, and I’m sick of having to wade through the GQs / Esquires / Men’s Healths of the world and pick out the parts I like while skipping all the parts that talk about mid-life crises. I’m 23. I have a full, long, healthy, exciting life ahead of me. Don’t freak me out early, y’know?

Here’s my goal: to build a lifestyle brand. I want Fuego to be an indispensable source of content — but I want to practice what it preaches by offering some elements of what it recommends. That means a cigar label, wine labels, vacations, cruises, workshops, high-end apparel, maybe even a club/lounge/bar or something.

Here’s my challenge: how would YOU build this brand? Some subpoints to drive your thinking:

Where do you start?

Who do you reach out to?

What areas do you seek to become an “expert?”

Who do you hold up as experts?

How do you evolve over time (outside content to self-generated content, etc.)

Do you stay with guys or do the same for women?

For the person who has the best recommendation, I’ll send you a copy of Founders at Work, one of the most amazing books on startupping there is!

I love you all.

Almost sounds too good to be true. I searched online but didn’t find anything great. I found tons of user reviews, what you can use the drug for and overall feel if it should work. I am not getting it but finding that wealth of knowledge was sweet.

Problem: Daily Strength is an amazing community for support with over 500 groups. The challenge is getting more people to know about Daily Strength. They are the largest support community but they have a lot of room for growth.

Product: Twitbin.com is a firefox tool that allows people to monitor
their twitter messages in their sidebar without having to visit
twitter.com. The tool also allows you to post to twitter as well,
giving you constant, immediate access to either your twitter
discussions stream or the public stream.

Problem: We’ve got a core set of users who’ve adopted it early on, but
we want to break past the super-techy early adopter set, and reach the
more mainstream twitter users. Second issue, how do we improve this,
make it reach beyond just twitter?

Fast Facts: 3,000 users have installed it, 950,000 minutes have been
logged in the sidebar (probably hitting a million by the time you read
this), and we’ve gotten a ton of positive feedback.

Open Q: So what I am looking for help from you is how you think we
should spread this even more? Virally? Contests? Blog more? We want to
hit 5,000 or 10,000 users and we want to do it fast.

Prize: $25 iTunes gift certificate to best comment.

Background: All bloggers and companies that have blogs are attention whores. They want more people to read their sites. All people email. Why not combine the power of the two? Dave created Blogsigs which is the easiest way to include your latest blog entry in your Gmail, Outlook, Entourage, etc…

Problem: Not enough people know about Blogsigs. I really love the product and is super helpful in getting more people reading your blog without any work.

Question for you: How can we get more people to use Blogsigs and get it spreading like chlamydia?

Prize: Best 3 comments get Community Next t-shirts. Yes, I have way too many of them left over=)
