Top Web 2.0 Business Buzz Words
I was writing an email to Aaron from Box.net and I enjoyed using the word synergies.
I used it out of hatred. Then I started to daydream all the other buzzwords I hate:
- leverage
- web 2.0
- web-centric
I went dry right away but then I thought who would know better than Okdork friends. What else do you hate?

Best Practices. Ugh. Right up my spine. Call it what it is: policy.

I just remembered the word ‘bandwidth.’ Why can’t people just say time?
Or ‘Ping’ do you mean email or contact me?

it’s not really a web 2.0 word, but it still annoys me - “circle back” - oh dear god, i hate it when people use that

How about:
Vis-a-vis
Reengineer (in the same sentance as spreadsheet)
Plate (same thing as bandwidth that noah mentioned above)
And one phrase:
from a (Insert job title related word here) perspective…
That one is crazy, i would assume if it is coming from you then it is from that perspective already, wouldn’t you?

I find it annoying that every single thing on the web these days is a “platform.”

Box.net is a great resource. I love your intake of it.

SaaS.One Platform deployment. Multi Tenant Architecture. On-demand. Sexy. Working for a Web 2.0 company makes these words constantly embedded in my head.

I would probably have to add social media into the mix as well. While it is obviously an awesome thing for folks, the simple fact of the matter is that the majority of online users never truly engage in social media (contributing content, videos, etc.).
Conversation is moderately annoying as well. A conversation involves at least two parties engaging in dialogue, but most blogs are truly one-way conversations (blogger makes a post, someone makes a comment, blogger generally doesn’t respond to comments or have comments open, doesn’t take the time to visit the other person’s blog, etc.)

“New and improved”.
Effin’ paradox. HOW can it be NEW, if it’s something that has been IMPROVED. But I guess that’s a classic?
Or how some people like to confuse “Viral” for “Shameless self-induced hype”.

Oh man…where to begin?
Anything “2.0″…obviously.
The “______ space”.
“Reach out” - as my friend put it, “what is this, Sunday school?”
Actually, what I hate the most is how people go out of their way to substitute “as” for “because”. This is especially prevalent in northern CA. Example: “I will not be at work tomorrow, as I am recovering from Flemish bikini waxing.”

It was great tonight. My friend said he liked to look at pictures of naked girls online.
I said that was so web 1.0, online porn is the web 2.0:)
