Sorry, I don’t speak CANTonese

I don’t speak CANTonese. That is a new language I hear from people and I have not learned it. Have you?

“But Noah, I CAN’T do it.”

Do you say can’t immediately after people ask you questions?

Are you thinking I can’t possibly do x, y or z? (Btw, What’s after Z?)

If you have spent years learning that language, I really think you should unlearn it.

I heard CANadians are great people:)

Canadians are one of the nicest groups of people I have ever met. Yes, this is a huge generalization and I will stand by it;)

I want someone to keep it real. I don’t want them to say can or can’t do everything. I know the people I LOVE working with are the ones who just get it done. It’s hard to read your comment cause it’s in talkbackish;)

Lol… i probably won’t pick up CANT’onese. i’m in the IT industry, with enough $$ and time, anything is possible.

But seriously, i speak fluent cantonese, come join me in hong kong sometime, i will bring u around. i will fly over from singapore.

I like Brian’s point. But this mindframe dodges that perspective and remains positive:

“How can I/we do ___________?”

Then your yes can be a yes, and your no and no, but you’re still progressing toward figuring out how it can be done — bypassing self limitation.

I think can’t is appropriate if there’s no alternative. However, one should always look at available options before using the word.
