I am an AVID Craigslist user. Bottomline: I LOVE Craig. I want to have his babies, shave his head or just watch him while he sleeps. Okay maybe not that excessive but I have bought all my cars from his site, sold many things, spent countless hours doing nothing. So why am I am a tad perturbed?
My 2 latest postings on Craigslist have spurred 10 emails clearly from fraudulent sellers.
How do I know they are fraudulent?
1- The names in the emails generally don’t match the email sender
2- Clearly they want me to ship it to their out of state address
3- They try to have excessive spelling errors to magnify that they are real or they just really can’t spell
4- You get tons of emails right away after you post your item.
This is REALLY disturbing since I have been using Craigslist for a really long time and most people trust emails they get from other users of the website. Now I see more emails that remind me of eBay where they ask you to ship to international countries (which I got scammed on once) and want to pay excessive of your asking price. So what should Craig do? I have no idea at this moment but I know this could really hurt that company. Please fix it Craig, here is an example email:
