AIM: My Anti-drug

I decided that a nice way to procrastinate writing my paper I’d sit down and chat a bit on AIM (I alotted myself exactly 7 minutes). After a bit of chatting, checking profiles, changing profiles, making away messages, checking away messages and chaning my buddy twice, I realized that I had been on AIM for 2.5 hours. I estimated that AIM adds 90 minutes to every five page paper that I write.

I realized then that I needed help.

My roommate and I figured that something was wrong when we caught ourselves chatting with one another online while being in a three feet radius of eachother. Sometimes the AIM addict finds themselves chatting with the same person online as they are on the phone.

You know you’re addicted to AIM when you know what %n means (sadly, I’ve used this command one too many times).

Word of mouth is a powerful tool which has been greatly fueled by the glory that is AIM. News spreads like wildfire on this contraption of instant messaging. The first and last thing a college studnent does is check AIM; whether it be there profile, away message or features.

Basically, I’m an AIM-aholic, as I’m writing this statement I am chatting on a beautiful blinking screen. I’m proud to be an AIM-aholic; AIM has kept me off the streets and glued to my compter screen for many a year now. Don’t be ashamed, embrace that little yellow man! We all have one inside us all!

You should meet my friend Gen (her link is on my blog) though I suspect you two would be horrible procrastinators in real life together, you sound like perfect IM soulmates!
