Wireless Everywhere
You walk around the coffee shop with a Carmel Macchiato and people are clicking away on their laptops. Do you ever think about all the wireless waves that are floating about? That must mess up some brain cells but the real story is the explosive expansion of wireless technologies across the world.
Some of the things I have thought of lately in regards to the amount of people who use wireless are:
- How many laptops are sold in the world compared to desktops?
- Is wireless adoption/expansion the same in the states as abroad?
- How much is the relationship between broadband expansion and wireless adoption?
- How many houses in the USA have wireless?
- How many people use cracked/borrow wireless from friends/neighbors?
- What is the total # of wireless access (sq ft) in America
o Here are some places to get it: www.wififreespot.com, bayareafreefi.com/, metrofreefi.com/ & many more you can find if you search Google Local: free wifi
I am excited for the future of Wireless with the potential of WiMax which is long-distance (miles) broadband. That would mean entire cities will have free internet. The cool thing to me is the ability for people to work from ANYWHERE. Any new entrepreneur can get free wireless in a park and do his business from there.
Some of the thought leaders in wireless and this spectrum is gigaom.com, check his blog to stay up to date with what’s happening.
As well an interesting recent Wifi activity is Google providing free internet to all of San Francisco, interesting….
