Google & thefacebook make changes

Google planning IM service, report says | CNET News.com

So the cat is out of the bag. Google is supposedly coming out with
an instant messenging client. I really want to see how they integrate
all their different web properties. I know this will draw more
attention on their site but I am skeptical of adoption of another
messenging client. Meetro came out
recently and I have no reason to join that. The only thing that seems
plausible is to include VOIP which would provide real competition for skype and gizmo.

Second announcement for today was the website changes for Facebook.com (note new domain name)

Bottomline: What the heck have they been doing all summer? I think
the site was super simple and useful all summer but I am a tad
disappointed with the new layout changes. I guess I am more excited to
see feature changes. The layout is not anything crazy and I liked the
simple clean lines from before.

As well, I find it funny that 90% of all college students on TFB have no idea thefacebook received 13 million dollars in venture capital funding from Accel Partners and that they are supposedly bringing in monthly revenues circa $400K.
