CityPokerGames – The Nuts for Finding a Home Game in the City
So I browsed through my friend Yaniv Alfasy’s aim profile yesterday
to realize he created this pretty interesting site. The premise is
similar to evite for poker games in major cities. I thought this was
ingenius with the popularity of poker and the difficulty in finding
other people to play with at times.
Pros:
- very dynamic and easy to look at users, cities and in-depth information
- very simple website and easy to understand
- very scalable model
Cons:
- too many banner ads
- a little confusing if the site is an online poker game (btw: it is a site to create real people games at home)
- limited to only major cities at this point
Suggestions:
- add some social networking things where you can invite friends to the games so people will spread the site for you
- create a ranking system so people have reason to use the site besides craigslist for organizing matches
- make it clearer what the site does from the first page
- remove almost all banner ads
- market to offices for when they get their groups together they can use this service
- create a notification service so you can see when games are available in your area
- simplify the registration system and let people add the information they want to later
Outcome
- evite already exists but something this specialized in a market so large and passionate is a great idea
- execution and promotion seem like the major challenges to me at this point
i guess we will see what happens.
